Motivarti Mentorship Launches

I’m very happy to announce that Motivarti is launching a new mentorship program!

Growing up in the Midwest, I never had access to industry professionals.  Once, when I was about 11 years old, I wrote a letter to the Walt Disney Animation Studios expressing my interest in becoming an animator.  I was so shocked when someone actually wrote back and sent me a photocopy packet filled with information about what was animation, the roles, and what schools I should look into the pursue my dream.

I worked really hard on my art skills growing up and eventually wound up attending college in Los Angeles, the animation industry’s capital.  But even while attending school, I found it really hard to meet industry professionals.  It was only when I did my summer internships at DreamWorks Animation and Disney that I had an opportunity to chat with the artists and that was only because my boss would arrange the meetings for me.

I tried emailing professionals here and there, but only sometimes did they respond.  I currently assist two industry professionals and trust me when I say it’s not that they don’t care, it’s that they don’t have time to get back to students.  Working professionals get so many emails every day with people asking them for their opinion or advice that they often feel it’s not fair to answer some and ignore others.  So often, they don’t respond at all.  But the thing is, a lot of them want to! There just wasn’t ever any structure to help facilitate the need between aspiring artists and the knowledge of working professionals.

So the Motivarti Mentorship Program was formed to help bridge that gap.  We’re hoping this mentorship will give aspiring artists all around the nation, even world, an opportunity to try and connect with the industry’s top professionals.  Whether you’re hoping to get into visual development, concept design, storyboarding, animation, character design, or even children’s book illustration or theme park design we’ve striven to gather a variety of mentors just for you.

If you’ve ever said to yourself, “If only I lived in LA…” this is your chance! Remember, luck is when opportunity meets preparation and Motivarti is here to help you make luck happen. So we hope you’ll consider applying.
