About Leighton Hickman
Leighton Hickman has been working in the entertainment industry for over three years as a Visual Development Artist for DreamWorks Animation, where he worked on such films as Shrek: Forever After and the upcoming Chris Sanders film Croods. He is currently freelancing as Conceptual Artist and Illustrator in the advertising, video game, and film industries. In his spare time he teachs plein air landscape painting at the Concept Design Academy. Prior to his professional career he led a successful academic career as a student at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena from which he graduated with honors and recognition on the deans list.

Little Know Tidbit: Before teaching visual arts Leighton taught martial arts and even fought competitively in Muay Thai Kickboxing tournaments.

Mentor Preferences
Leighton is hoping to give his mentees general advise about becoming a concept artist and/or illustrator.   He is also open to giving targeted artistic guidance for existing portfolio pieces or even working with you to create new pieces for your personal work or homework projects.
