Mentor of the Day: Craig Elliott

Visual development, concept design, character design, illustration, fine art, sculpture, and even jewelry making – Craig Elliott is a multi-talented artist that has done it all!

Craig received his education at the famed Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and studied under artists such as Harry Carmean and Burne Hogarth. Craig’s carefully crafted and arresting images of nature and the human form have captivated audiences with their visual and intellectual celebration of the beauty in this world and beyond. In addition to his fine art work, Craig has had a hand in designing many of today’s most popular animated films from studios such as Disney and Dreamworks.

Craig has worked primarily for Disney and Dreamworks, designing their animated films such as
• Hercules
• Mulan
• The Emperor’s New Groove
• Treasure Planet
• Shark Tale
• Flushed Away
• Bee Movie
• Enchanted
• Monsters vs. Aliens
• The Princess and the Frog

Craig has also done fully painted comic book and cover artwork for Dark Horse Comics, World of Warcraft Trading cards, editorial illustration for Realms of Fantasy magazine, and more!

Craig is very familiar with many aspects of the entertainment industry since he has worked in feature animation, television animation, video games, fantasy illustration, and trading cards.  Plus, Craig has worked both in-house at the major studios and as a very successful freelance artist.  His wealth in knowledge will make him a fantastic mentor to anyone hoping to branch out and explore multiple avenues for a career in art.

Craig is open to taking on up to 2 mentees in the spring from anywhere, including internationally. Craig is hoping to help his mentees develop their skills further and create or revise portfolio pieces.  Also, if you’re going to be at the CTN Expo this weekend be sure to stop by Craig Elliott‘s booth and talk to him about the mentorship program!
