Mentor of the Day: Griselda Sastrawinata
Welcome back to the extraordinary Griselda Sastrawinata! Our lovely mentor, born in Indonesia, a graduate of Pasadena Art Center College of Design and currently a brilliant visual development artist at DreamWorks in Glendale, CA!
Griselda is a great match for an aspiring visual development artist that is determined and ready to work hard! She casts a wide range of expertise – everything from environments, characters, props, colors, and then some!
Griselda’s Spring 2013 mentee Bryan Wong has only the highest praise, “I’d give Griselda my highest possible recommendation as a mentor. She’s practical, professional, and genuinely cares about helping artists who are trying to break into the animation industry. Working with her for the last few weeks has helped me immensely in terms of targeting and building up the weak spots in my artistic skill set, as well as giving me a good solid sense of what steps I need to take next in order to make my way in animation. I can’t remember the last time I learned so much in ten weeks, and I’m really looking forward to putting these new skills to good use. ”
She is open towards teaching international students, as well as beginning (just trying to get into art college) and advanced students (post-grad). She looks for students that are passionate for art, animation, and are self driven to make a great plan for their ten weeks under her mentorship.
Bryan says to Griselda’s future mentees, “Take plenty of notes, Griselda has a lot of information to digest. If at all possible, clear off your schedule before taking on a mentorship with Griselda, projects can become pretty work intensive and you’ll really want to get everything you can out of them.”
