Mentor of the Day: Dan Krall

DanKrall_8Motivarti is pleased to welcome back the incredibly talented, Dan Krall! Dan’s mentees always come back with wonderful things to say, and we know he will be the perfect mentor for another aspiring Visual Development artist or illustrator!

We were so happy to hear from Dan’s Fall 2013 mentee, Ashlyn Anstee, and to learn that she came away from her mentorship with more than just a fantastic experience! Ashlyn spent her mentorship polishing up her portfolio and submitted it plus 2 book dummies to the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrator.  Half of the work she submitted was created during her mentorship with Dan.  As a result, on SCBWI’s Art Director’s Day, Ashlyn received two Professional Choice Awards!  Congratulations Ashlyn! Check out some of her delightful work below!

When prompted about the most important thing Ashlyn took away from her mentorship, she told us, “How to balance a job and a second gig. Dan has some of the best time management and is so passionate about everything he does, so it was great to take inspiration from that drive.”

To match Dan’s passion, he also has experience all over the place. He is a published children’s book illustrator, he has worked on films such as “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Coraline”, and in television worked on everything from “Powerpuff Girls” to “Scooby Doo Mystery Inc”. The list goes on!

Check out more of Dan’s charming work at his blog.
