About Griselda Sastrawinata
Griselda Sastrawinata raduated from Pasadena Art Center College of Design (ACCD) as valedictorian, and currently working as a visual development artist and character designer at DreamWorks Animation. At the moment, she is working on a secret project development. In the past she has worked on Me and My Shadow, Smekday (working title), Dragons 2, Guardians, Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Master, Puss In Boots, PIB: The Tree Diablos, Neighbors from Hell, Shrek DVD, Shrek Forever After, and various unannounced DWA development projects. Griselda was a mentor for Art Center College of Design (ACCD) in 2008 and taught Visual Communication 5 for Product Design at ACCD from summer 2009 to spring 2012. In spring 2013, she joined Motivarti as a mentor.
Griselda has a strong background as a visual development artist — characters, costumes, backgrounds, environments, colors, lighting, and props. Her strengths lie in traditional drawing and painting with pencil, pen, ink, gouache, acrylic, and oil. In addition she is highly trained in digital painting with Photoshop and is proficient with After Effects, Illustrator, and Maya.
Ideal Mentee: My ideal mentee is someone who is passionate for art, animation and has similar taste in art. I am open to helping out both beginning (freshmen or trying to get into art college) and advanced (post grad) artists.
10-week plan: Mentorhsips are driven by the mentee and will be based on their needs. Whether it’s for college portfolio or professional portfolio. The first meeting will dictate what the rest of the 9 weeks will be. We will come up with a plan and advise them on how to meet their goals.
