About LeUyen Pham
New York Times Bestselling author/illustrator LeUyen Pham has created over fifty books for children, including the Freckleface Strawberry Series, written by actress Julianne Moore, God’s Dream by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Grace for President by Kelly DiPuccio, and the Alvin Ho series, written by Lenore Look, as well as her own Big Sister, Little Sister and All the Things I Love About You. LeUyen graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena with a degree in Illustration, and worked for a short time as a layout artist at Dreamworks Feature Animation before leaving to illustrate books full-time in 1999. Born in Vietnam, she was raised in Los Angeles and traveled the world before moving to San Francisco in 2002. She has taught at both the Art Center and the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Little Know Tidbit: LeUyen attended UCLA with designs to enter pre-law, before the head of the art department at UCLA referred her to Art Center College of Design after seeing some of her drawings. By all accounts, she should have been a lawyer by now, if her parents had their way.
Uyen is hoping to give her mentee general advise about the children’s book industry as well as career advice. She’s also hoping to help her mentee advance their storytelling and illustration skills to the next level and prepare some portfolio pieces.
